Exit Ticket Task

Navigate to our MAT241 Exit Ticket Form, answer the questions, and complete the task below.

Note. Today’s discussion is listed as 17. Additional Inference Practice, III

Task: A regional airline wants to know if a new online check-in system has changed the average time passengers spend at the check-in counter. Before the system was introduced, staff timed a random sample of 32 passengers and found a mean check-in time of 6.4 minutes with a standard deviation of 1.8 minutes. After introducing the system, staff timed a new random sample of 28 passengers and found a mean check-in time of 5.1 minutes with a standard deviation of 1.5 minutes. At the 5% significance level, does this sample provide evidence that the new system has reduced the average check-in time?

Identify which inferential procedure is appropriate here (one-sample or two-sample; mean or proportion; confidence interval or hypothesis test) and justify your choice. Then carry out the procedure.
